The Villages and Townships of Gloucestershire, Lancashire and Yorkshire

The village of Bisley, Gloucestershire

The Village of Bisley lies in the Cotswold Hills in  south east Gloucestershire, England. The Hunts in my family left this village in the late 1800’s presumably to follow work to Gloucester itself.  The family can be traced back to about 1780 – using paper records – to having lived in and around Bisley.  I hope to trace the family further back using Church and other records.

The Church in Owstry, birthplace of Jane Musgrave about 1807

My mother’s side of the family originated in Yorkshire, then over the years moved to Lancashire and finally Cheshire.  I will be looking at some of the villages, towns and cities that they inhabited over the past 200 years, as well as talking to relatives.  As with the Gloucestershire inquiries, I hope to find some trace of their activities.

I will be in England for the complete month of  March 2012 to trace as many of my ancestors as possible.  This Blog will be a record of this trip.
